She watched him in the soft morning light. She observed her sleeping beloved one. It was warm under the blanket, but she knew it was freezing outside. Soon the alarm clock would ring and they would have to get up, just to be parted for another few months. She wished she could delay time. That this moment would at least last a bit longer. If time stopped they would be together in eternity, forever this peaceful and innocent. If time would go faster she would skip the moment of their parting and go straight away to the moment of their reuniting.
She waited impatiently for the train to arrive. Hopping from one leg to the other, being slightly nervous. With the sound of cracking breaks the train stopped and opened its doors. In the doorway she saw him, carrying a huge backpack. With her arms wide she ran. Time stopped.
An impatient bleeping filled the room. She stretched her arm and hit the demanding clock. He opened his eyes. With the desperate passion of their parting in view they delayed time for a moment.
He handed her a ring, smiling he put it around her finger. He lifted the veil. This time without blurry vision she watched him in the eyes. Hold them for a moment with her look. Time stopped.
She dressed and felt his eyes on her back. He was long finished with dressing and packing. The bathroom looked already empty. When she finally had closed all the buttons of her dress, he embraced from behind. Turning her around he kissed her. She wanted to hold him and never let go. Unwilling he did let go and went to get his coat. When he was gone, she secretly slit an envelop in his backpack.
He was walking up and down the hallway, restless, not able to sit still. Having walked for miles he eventually sat down. Nervously opening a magazine and closing it, just to open it again.
The sound crying came from behind the white door. He raised his head, twinkling lights lighted his eyes. Time stopped.
With cracking breaks the yellow train arrived. The whistle of the conductor sealed their fate. She freed herself out of his embrace, kissed him one more time and pushed him in the train. She followed him behind the window to his seat. He blew a kiss and moved his lips forming three silent words. The train drove away. She ran, trying to keep on track with the train. Abruptly the platform ended.
The workmen watched a girl, tears running down her face, walking lonely away.
She looked his face counting the wrinkles which told the story of a happy lifetime. She knew her hair would be grey now. He let his hand go through her grey locks, watching her beloved face for the millionth time. Knowing every freckle, every wrinkle, every spot so well. Hed seen every one of them appear. He kissed her forehead.
And time stopped, letting eternity be
